The month of June is Life Month!
During June every year, Americans celebrate the gift of life, repent of our nation's participation in abortion, and encourage one another to continue building a culture of life. We remind each other in June and every month that every person is worthy of dignity and respect because they're made in the image of God.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Genesis 1:27-28
June is life month, for it was on June 24, 2022, that the Supreme Court of the United States corrected its former error by overturning Roe vs. Wade. Even though the previous ruling was unconstitutional and thoroughly flawed, it permitted the federal government of these United States to endorse a great injustice in the murder of over fifty million American children in the womb. But once SCOTUS corrected itself, thankfully, several states, including Tennessee, had laws that automatically took effect protecting the lives of unborn children. Several states have correctly safeguarded the lives of unborn children over the last year. Sadly some states have also pushed a pro-death agenda in response to abortion rightly being made a state issue.
Life Month provides a time to reflect on and cherish the sanctity of human life. The Bible says every individual is fearfully and wonderfully made. This biblical truth is one of many pro-life messages in the Word of God that drives its readers to praise God. Psalm 139 emphasizes God's intimate involvement in each person's creation. It reminds us that life begins in the womb, as our Creator intricately designs each person. This verse reinforces the truth that every unborn child is a unique and precious person created in the image of God who deserves protection and care. Jeremiah 1 shows God's knowledge of you before He gave you life at conception.
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:13-14
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5
As we celebrate June as Life Month, we must remember why every human life is beautiful with worth and dignity. Every person, from conception to natural death, has worth and dignity because every person is made in the image of God. The Bible provides us with invaluable guidance and support for the pro-life position. It affirms that life begins in the womb, that God knows and has a purpose for each individual, and that we are called to protect and value every human life. Let us embrace this month as an opportunity to honor and cherish life, and to actively promote a culture that upholds the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.
